Transforming Code of Conduct Training at ADM with Online Gamification

Why Training the Team on the Code of Conduct Is Essential

The code of conduct is the foundation that guides behaviors, decisions, and corporate culture within an organization. Training the team on these principles strengthens an ethical, safe, and regulation-compliant work environment, while promoting a culture of transparency and mutual trust. For a company of ADM’s size, with employees around the world, this alignment is essential to maintaining a commitment to high standards of integrity and responsibility.

The Power of Gamification: Benefits of Online Training

We chose online gamification to turn the code of conduct content into an immersive and practical game. Rather than passively watching a presentation or reading a manual, employees took part in an interactive experience where they could apply the code of conduct to everyday scenarios. This approach boosted engagement, making the training far more effective and memorable.

Benefits of Gamified Training:

  • Higher Content Retention: Games help employees better absorb content by actively engaging them. Studies show that gamification enhances information retention and reinforces the practical application of concepts.

  • Flexibility and Accessibility: Online training allowed employees from across the Americas to participate in the language of their choice, with sessions in three languages, increasing access and inclusion.

  • Engagement and Motivation: The friendly competition of the game provided extra motivation for employees to enthusiastically complete the training, promoting a positive experience with an important, and often dense, topic.

  • Immediate Feedback: During the game, participants received instant feedback on their choices, which reinforces learning and allows for real-time adjustments.

Results and Appreciation

The impact was impressive: in just three days, nearly 1,000 employees participated in the game, experiencing and applying the principles of the code of conduct in a practical and interactive way. This positive response reflects the value that a gamified approach can bring to corporate learning.

My thanks also go out to our Game Masters who, over the course of two days, dedicated themselves masterfully to guiding and supporting players, ensuring an enriching experience for everyone.
