The importance of pink October in companies.

The October Pink movement is an international action that colors the world for raising awareness about the fight against breast cancer. The name refers to the color of the tie that symbolizes this battle and the objective of the campaign is to encourage the participation of the entire population, companies and public entities.

Breast cancer is the most common disease among women worldwide. In 2018, approximately 60,000 women had cases of breast cancer, which represents 29% of female cancer cases in the country, according to the National Cancer Institute (Inca). The mortality of the disease also shows significant numbers, more than 16 thousand Brazilians did not resist the complications of cancer last year.

When detected early, the chance of recovery is 95%. Therefore, awareness and care regarding self-examination is important to detect possible anomalies. The October Pink campaign works in this area, promoting and encouraging women to know themselves and care for their bodies.

When the company joins movements such as Outubro Rosa, it is showing its concern and zeal for the health of its employees. Breast cancer in men is rare, but it also reports cases in Brazil. Awareness can be carried out in different ways: lectures, conversations, training, etc.

There are different ways to participate and join October Rose within the company. The first actions are to show that the environment is participating, putting the color pink in some strategic spaces. In this way, the company will show employees that it is “wearing” the campaign colors.

It is essential to promote moments of discussion and debate about breast cancer. Calling everyone to an illustrative and explanatory lecture on the subject is a way to encourage prevention, showing the importance of self-examination and the way it can be carried out.

In fact, self-examination is a simple way to discover potential anomalies. It should not replace mammography and clinical examinations, but it can be performed indoors or in the company's own bathroom, provided it has a mirror.

When feeling any lump or something different in the breast, the woman must be accompanied. The company can demonstrate empathy and create a close and caring relationship with people who are going through this moment.

Does your company promote actions on the Pink October? Tell us in our comments how important it is to you actions that promote the health of employees!
